An introduction from a DNP student

My name is Jill. I am the Director of MARSCare Preferred Pediatric Home Care located in Philadelphia, PA. We specialize in the delivery of skilled nursing care to medically complex and technology dependent children. I am entering my second year in the DNP program at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. I am glad to report that I survived the first year! It was an exhilarating experience. The courses and instructors were exceptional. Balancing my commitment to family (husband and 13 year old daughter), a full time job and full time academics was -- and continues to be -- the ultimate challenge for me. It’s a good thing I don’t need much sleep!

Hello,

My name is Jill.  I am the Director of MARSCare Preferred Pediatric Home Care located in Philadelphia, Pa.  We specialize in the delivery of skilled nursing care to medically complex and technology dependent children.

I am entering my second year in the DNP program at the Johns Hopkins  School of Nursing.  I am glad to report that I survived the first year!  It was an exhilarating experience.  The courses and instructors were exceptional.  Balancing my commitment to family (husband and 13-year-old daughter), a full-time job and full-time academics was — and continues to be — the ultimate challenge for me.  It’s a good thing I don’t need much sleep!  But the opportunity to be exposed to new knowledge and its application to my nursing practice is invaluable.  This experience is more than I could have imagined.  I am so fortunate to share this journey with my classmates who are all highly successful and accomplished professionals practicing in many areas of nursing.

My focus now shifts to the completion and eventual submission of my IRB in preparation for implementation of my Capstone project.  In addition to the Capstone III course, I am also taking three other courses that promise to be equally challenging and information packed.  Stay tuned!
