The DNP Executive, DNP/MBA, and DNP/MPH spring 2024 graduating cohorts were here in person at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing for their third immersion. These programs teach students the analytical skills and evidence-based practice principles needed for healthcare innovation and leadership. This is achieved not only through coursework, but an intensive Doctoral Scholarly Project where students address a clinical problem within their practice setting in real time.
This immersion marks a significant milestone within the program. Not only are the students halfway, and those dual degree students two thirds of the way through, it is also an incredible opportunity for students to come together with their advisers and organizational mentors to present on their progress and the importance of their project within their organization.
DNP Executive student, Raji Koppolu, CPNP-PC/AC, RN, MS, MSL, NPD-BC reflects, “It was clear the passion and rigor with which students were exploring a particular problem, hearing what they discovered from the evidence, and ultimately what intervention they were seeking to implement and measure. While there was a diverse set of topics presented, there were also some common themes around transitions, provider well-being, and reducing health disparities. It was exciting to see how everything we have learned is being applied to developing amazing scholarly projects.”
In between project presentations, the immersion allows students to connect with not only each other, but faculty members and administrative support staff who they would otherwise interact with virtually. This time is really special for students to continue to forge and deepen their relationships as future colleagues and friends in person here in Baltimore.
“I look forward to connecting with our cohort as we continue into our second year. I was very inspired, and our collective work speaks to the power that nursing has to make sustainable, evidence-based change,” added Raji. The students will be back in May 2024 for DNP Scholar’s Day to showcase their final project results before graduation and we look forward to celebrating with them!
