Now that you’ve decided to apply to the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, the next step is to prepare you application.  While it isn’t as easy a snapping your finger, it’s not as hard as you think it will be!  Here are a few tips for getting your application put together, so that you turn it in one time and everything is in where it should be!

Tip #1: Pay Attention to Deadlines

Once you have decided on which program to apply to (yes, we have many), look for when the application is due. These are different between Baccalaureate, Masters, Post-Degree, PhD, and DNP.  Make note of the deadline, and work backwards from there. For a full list go here: Application Deadlines

Hint: If you are applying to the BS-MSN program use the deadline for either the Accelerated or Traditional.

Tip #2: Follow Directions and Guidelines

The guidelines for a given application can be found on the first page of the packet. This tells you everything you need to submit for that application.

Tip #3: You Have Two Options to Submit

You may turn in your application either by downloading a copy from the website or submitting the application online. If you choose to submit the application online, you can upload all of your documents except the recommendation letters and transcripts, which need to come through the mail. Applications can be downloaded here: Applications

Tip #4: Send As Much in One Packet

If you are sending us your application in the mail, put it in one envelope (check the address and postage too!). This ensures everything arrives together. If the transcripts and recommendations are sent separately that’s okay, but if you have them, send those in with the rest of the application.

Tip #5: Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute!

Turn your application in early! This ensures that everything is submitted on-time and is complete before the deadline. This way, if you are missing something in your application you have the time to submit it!

Tip #6: Don’t Hesitate to Contact Us

Use the Office of Admissions and Student Services as a resource, that is why we are here!
