Hopkins nurses en route to Haiti

A team of Hopkins nurses is on its way to Haiti, where relief efforts continue in the wake of January’s earthquake.

The group, composed of Hopkins nursing faculty, graduate students, and alumni, left early Friday from Baltimore for a two-week deployment. They arrived in the Dominican Republic, then headed off for neighboring Haiti.

The group includes two members of the School of Nursing faculty — Joyce Vazzano and Phyllis Mason. Others on the JHUSON team include graduate students Jennifer Stagl and Rachel Klimmek, alumnus Tom Bernadzikowski, Hopkins PNP Michelle Felix, and two other non-Hopkins RNs — Nora Hellman and Alexandra Bambrick.  The group, volunteering with International Medical Corps, will assist with patient care at the University Hopsital in Port-au-Prince and area community clinics.
